Chalon sur Saône est l'une des principales villes de Bourgogne. Seconde en taille après Dijon, elle est la principale agglomération de la Bourgogne du Sud. Ce n'est pourtant pas une ville qui en impose par sa taille. Bien au contraire, cette ville à cheval sur la Saône et qui compte un peu plus de 50.000 habitants se visite comme on visiterait un grand village.

La Roche de Solutré |

Dominating the vineyards, this Rock is one of the most famous places in Southern Burgundy and is a real eye catcher in the Mâconnais region. If it weren’t for the vineyards, one could think that the Roche de Solutré had been taken out of the American wild west. Even if the Rock itself is spectacular enough to become famous, former French president François Mitterand contributed a great deal to its reputation. Every Pentecost, he climbed the Roche de Solutré together with some of his followers…and all the television stations of the country!

Tournus |

Tournus is een leuk stadje op de oevers van de Saône, precies tussen Dijon en Lyon gelegen. De typische daken doen u al denken aan het Zuiden van Frankrijk. Tournus is één van de meest bezochte stadjes van Zuid-Bourgondië en is met name bekend om z'n prachtige romaanse Abdij kerk, maar toch ook zeker om z'n vele goede restaurants. Een kleine inleiding...

Chateau de Cormatin |

Dit 17e eeuwse kasteel is gebouwd in de Renaissance stijl, en is zonder twijfel één van de mooiste kastelen in Zuid-Bourgondië. Door de eeuwen heen zijn vele bekende personnages hier de revue gepasseerd, zoals Lamartine en recentelijk François Mitterand. De voormalige Franse président kwam hier graag door de tuinen wandelen.
