Cycling in Burgundy and the Voie Verte

Burgundy is the land of easy slopes and many valleys, vineyards and villages, waiting to be discovered. Cycling is probably the most suitable way to discover the little country side roads through the vineyards, the pastures and the picturesque little villages.

With over 20.000 kilometres of roads, Burgundy offers many different itineraries to discover, especially cycling. All these itineraries will show you the diversity of the Burgundy landscapes; In the Mâconnais and the Morvan, mountain bikers will find all they need. For the more easy going and relaxing rides, the Côte Chalonnaise and the Bresse area are very suitable.

One of the best ways to discover the Côte Chalonnaise vineyards however is over the Voie Verte. The Voie Verte is a former rail road between Givry and Cluny, transformed into a safe and secured cycle path. It is only allowed for walking, cycling and roller skating, so no motorized traffic is allowed. A very pleasant way to discover the vineyards of the Côte Chalonnaise with some picturesque villages like Saint Gengoux le National, Buxy and Givry.

Alongside and on the Voie Verte, you will find all installations and facilities necessary to ensure a pleasant stroll: parking space, watertaps, public toilets, pic-nic areas, bicycle hire, etc.
